The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of the most popular and easily accessible treks in the world; the trail leads you into the heart of the Annapurna massifs. This legendary journey takes you through the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), a place where you can spot unique Himalayan wildlife and rare species such as the Himalayan Thar, Langur, and the colorful Danphe. We offer expert-led, safe itineraries that provide a perfect, moderate, and a memorable Himalayan trekking adventure to the foot of the Annapurna.
The standard Annapurna Base Camp Trek 11 Days begins with a scenic drive to Nayapul (1,070m) from Pokhara Lakeside by bus, jeep, or van, which serves as our official starting point of the Annapurna treks. Following the ABC trek itinerary, you will ascend through lush rhododendron forests and terraced fields to reach the base camp (4,130m) of the world's 10th highest peak, Annapurna I (8,091m). A major highlight of our Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is a visit to Poon Hill (3,210m) for the sunrise, which offers the best panoramic views of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m), Tukuche (6,920m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and the famous sacred Machhapuchhre (6,993m) mountain. To ensure trekkers' safety and proper altitude adjustment, our 2026/2027 ABC Trek package includes a relaxing stop at the Jhinu Danda Hot spring (1,780m) to rejuvenate your muscles on the return from your ABC journey.
We provide a variety of Annapurna Base Camp trekking programs (usually 8–11 days) intended for all ability levels, with expert guides and all necessary trekking permits (ACAP and TIMS). The difficulty level of the Annapurna Base Camp hike is moderate, but with appropriate planning, it is highly achievable. We use local porters and help with their economy by giving some work; also, it ensures your adventure supports mountain families. The best time to visit Annapurna Base Camp is in the spring (March–May) for blooming flowers or autumn (October–November) for clear skies. These months are the best seasons for an Annapurna trek, with perfect weather, clear skies, and favorable conditions.

Historically, the trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) was pioneered by local Gurung communities and shepherds for trade and regional exploration. In the 19th century, Japanese monk Ekai Kawaguchi documented his journey through the area, and by the mid-twentieth century, early Mount Annapurna expedition history shifted the focus from exploration to conquering high-altitude peaks. Nepal officially opened its doors to international tourism in the 1960s, establishing the foundation for promoting the legendary routes to the Annapurna Sanctuary. These days ABC Trek has become more popular due to huge improvements of trails, teahouses, facilities and responsible tourism. Also, now the ABC is more attractive for the history and adventures for the visitors for their lifetime Himalayan experiences.
The best time to trek Annapurna Base Camp is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months offer stable weather, clear mountain views, and comfortable trekking conditions. During the spring, the trails are filled with blooming rhododendron forests, stable weather, and clear mountain views, making them especially scenic and enjoyable. Autumn is considered the peak season for trekking in Nepal due to its crisp air, blue sky, mild temperatures, and excellent visibility of the Annapurna range, and it offers the clearest panoramic views. Winter (December–February) is ideal if you are looking for fewer crowds, treks and dramatic snowy landscapes. The temperature gets colder at higher elevations and requires proper preparation.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trek and suitable for trekkers with a reasonable fitness. The trekkers should be prepared for the daily walks of approximately 5 to 7 hours each day over terrain and long ascents and descents on the stairs. The maximum altitude reaches 4,130 metres at Annapurna Base Camp. To enjoy the trek and reduce the risk of fatigue or altitude-related issues, regular cardio workouts, hiking with a backpack and hiking boots, and leg-strength training are highly recommended for a few weeks to months prior to the trek.
Accommodation and food along the Annapurna Base Camp Trek are well-developed. There are plenty of traditional teahouses that provide cozy rooms; typically the rooms are with twin beds, warm blankets, and shared bathroom facilities. They serve hot and freshly prepared meals, including Dal Bhat, as well as noodles, pasta, fried rice, soups, and pancakes.

“Our trek to Annapurna base camp was wonderful- the whole trip was organised with incredible care and attention by Sam in Kathmandu. He even took the time to meet up with us both before and after the trek to ensure that everything was in order and we were happy with arrangements. The guide we were given was superb and altered the trek schedule to reflect our pace of walking, while the porter was superb, friendly and caring. Having been trekking with far larger companies in the past, I have to say that the level of service from Above and Beyond surpassed their efforts, something we really appreciated since we were travelling alone and not part of a larger group. Highly recommend talking to Sam if you are thinking of a trip to Nepal.”

“Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek was amazing! The guide knows so many people and knows so much about the area that the experience was not just about one of the best treks in the world, but I felt totally immersed in the villages, the people and the region itself. Sam got us into every kitchen we stopped at so we could watch the cooks prepare the food and ask them any questions. I felt safe with his knowledge of the people Sam knows the area so well that he would spot animals in the jungle that I had missed even though I had been resting in the location without noticing them. Himalayan Lungurs on 3 occasions, ox, buffalo, it was amazing. Sam is so positive and joyful to be around. He is the best guide and he gets my highest endorsement and recommendation.”
