The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the world’s most iconic Himalayan trekking adventures, attracting trekkers from around the globe to the foothills of Mount Everest (8,848.86m). Located in Nepal’s famous Khumbu region within Sagarmatha National Park, the trek offers breathtaking mountain scenery, authentic Sherpa culture, ancient Buddhist monasteries, and unforgettable high-altitude landscapes. Our expertly guided Everest Base Camp Trek 12 Days itinerary is designed to provide a safe, scenic, and rewarding journey to Everest Base Camp (5,364m / 17,598ft).
The standard Everest Base Camp Trekking itinerary begins with a thrilling mountain flight from Kathmandu (or Manthali) to Lukla (2,860m / 9,383ft), the gateway to the Everest region. The trekking route passes through picturesque Sherpa villages including Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep before reaching Everest Base Camp. Along the trail, trekkers enjoy spectacular views of world-famous Himalayan peaks such as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Pumori.
The total trekking distance of the EBC Trek is approximately 130 km (80 miles) round trip. The trek is considered moderate to strenuous due to long walking hours, steep ascents, rocky mountain trails, and high altitude. To ensure proper acclimatization and reduce the risk of Altitude Sickness (AMS), the itinerary includes important acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,410m). One of the major highlights of the journey is the early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m), widely regarded as the best viewpoint for panoramic sunrise views over Mount Everest and the Khumbu Icefall.
Our Everest Base Camp Trek package includes experienced licensed trekking guides, porters, domestic Lukla flights, teahouse accommodation, permits, and full board meals during the trek. Trekkers experience traditional Sherpa hospitality while staying in mountain teahouses along the route. We also provide detailed Everest Base Camp Trek maps, pre-trek information, and personalized support throughout the adventure.
We offer multiple trekking options suitable for different travel styles and fitness levels, including a classic Everest Base Camp Trek, short Everest trekking packages, and premium Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek itineraries with helicopter return from the mountains to Kathmandu. Luxury packages include upgraded accommodation, additional comfort services, and scenic helicopter flights over the Himalayas.
The best time for the Everest Base Camp Trek is during the spring season (March to May) and autumn season (September to November), when weather conditions are stable and mountain views are at their clearest. During these seasons, trekkers can enjoy excellent visibility, moderate temperatures, and vibrant trekking trails filled with international adventurers.
For travelers looking to extend their Himalayan journey, the Everest region also offers famous alternative treks such as the scenic Gokyo Lakes Trek, known for its turquoise alpine lakes and Gokyo Ri viewpoint, and the challenging Everest Three Passes Trek, which crosses the high mountain passes of Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La.
The Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal is more than just a hiking adventure — it is a once-in-a-lifetime journey through the heart of the Himalayas. From ancient monasteries and Sherpa villages to dramatic glaciers and the base of the world’s highest mountain, the trek delivers an unforgettable experience for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers alike.
The Everest Base Camp trek is the ultimate mountain journey, offering a famous path through the heart of the Himalayas. “The Everest Base Camp trek was an experience of a lifetime! And a knowledgeable guide like Sam was a definite plus. We learned so much about the Nepali culture. He took extra time to answer our questions and explain customs of the wonderful local people. All details were well worked out and logistics went smoothly. Sam was kind and gentle but also made the call when needed to get a horse for me to finish the last leg of the journey”

“Sam is possibly the best trekking guide in Nepal if not the world. Guide, porter, medic, comidian, singer he does it all! Sam is very friendly and so easy to talk too. I found it very easy to bring up any issues I had (not that I had many) which helped to make the trekking experience the best it could possibly be. Sam is very knowledgeable about the mountains and the local culture and thought us so much. Sam also chooses the best local porters. Very friendly and very helpful. Couldn't have asked for any better. I couldn't recommend above and beyond trekking more highly”
