Overview

The Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Lakes via Cho La Pass is one of the most iconic and scenic high-altitude trekking adventures in the Himalayas. This trek uniquely combines the classic Everest Base Camp route with the tranquil beauty of the Gokyo Valley, offering panoramic Himalayan views and cultural immersion. Starting from the mountain airstrip in Lukla—the traditional starting point for Everest region treks—the trail follows a well-paced itinerary through lush forests, glacial landscapes, and remote Sherpa villages.

Spanning a total duration of 17 days, this adventure includes essential acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche to help trekkers adjust to the increasing altitude. The route ascends through Sagarmatha National Park, home to rare wildlife and sacred monasteries, and passes key stops like Tengboche, Lobuche, and Gorakshep before reaching Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Trekkers then cross the challenging Cho La Pass (5,420m) to reach the stunning Gokyo Lakes and summit Gokyo Ri (5,360m)—one of the best viewpoints for observing Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

This adventurous trail features dramatic alpine scenery, glacier crossings like the Ngozumpa Glacier, and overnight stays in authentic teahouse lodges run by local Sherpas. The Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes route offers greater diversity and fewer crowds than the standard EBC trek. It's ideal for trekkers seeking a moderately strenuous challenge with well-managed acclimatization, experienced guides, and reliable support services.

Our all-inclusive Everest Base Camp trek package includes round-trip Kathmandu–Lukla flights, trekking permits, accommodation, meals, professional English-speaking guides, porters, and full logistical support. The difficulty level ranges from moderate to challenging due to high-altitude conditions, especially while crossing Cho La Pass. The best time to do this trek is in the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is stable and the skies are clear for unobstructed mountain views.

Trekkers looking for even more adventure can extend or combine this trek with Renjo La Pass, or opt for the full Three Passes Trek, which connects the Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, Chola Pass, Renjo La, Kongma La, and remote valleys into Nepal’s most complete Himalayan circuit. The highest altitudeviewpoint for sunrise over Mount Everest and the Khumbu Glacier.

Whether you're captivated by snow-capped peaks, sacred alpine lakes, or the rich traditions of the Sherpa people, the Everest Base Camp trek with Gokyo Lakes offers an unforgettable high-altitude experience. It blends adventure, cultural exploration, and breathtaking scenery into one of the best trekking routes in Nepal.
